Quick Guide To Prostate Health
It comes as no surprise that as men get older prostate problems crop up. What they really are curious about however is if they are destined to a life of prostate issues or not.
Most likely not. It just seems that way to those living the Western lifestyle and eating the typical Western diet. Guys in other parts of the world, like Asia for instance, are no where near as likely to suffer from enlarged prostates. Which many attribute to lifestyle and diet differences.
What is needed to make your prostate health better is no secret. That is eat a healthy diet with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables. You might try drinking pomegranate juice which has been shown to help. And watch your fat intake which you’d want to regardless.
Okay so what else can you do when it comes to dietary choices?
Tomato products, which contain lycopene, are thought to protect you. So tomato paste and sauce and raw tomatoes should be on the menu more often.
Getting more fiber helps too. That means you want to load up on whole grains and start to eat more legumes and beans while cutting back on processed flour and sugar.
Along with cutting back on animal fats, fried foods and dairy products try to get more healthy fats into your diet. Think olive oil, almonds, avocados, certain types of fish, even pumpkin seeds.
Another idea? Soak up the rays and get enough Vitamin D.
Eat more Brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and vegetables considered to be members of the cruciferous family. These are on many good for you to eat lists anyway. Plus they uniquely contain a potential anti prostate cancer ingredient that can help minimize the risks.
Ladling more of any of these things on your plate will likely result in better weight management too. And carrying extra pounds is another risk factor for prostate problems you’ll avoid in the process.
And as always, keeping active and particularly getting more exercise. You’ll not only feel better but doing so also contributes to better prostate health.
Look. It’s up to you to decide to live healthy since most any of these activities fall under the category of self help. Or just being smart and aware of how diet and exercise can make a difference when it comes to your prostate. So even though this isn’t some fancy plan, doing stuff like this may be just what you need to insure you dodge the annoying prostate issues so many of us fall prey to as we get older.
