Trial And Error:Overcoming Low Self Esteem
You should know that overcoming low self esteem issues are difficult. Even though it’s a common problem, people deal with it differently. The question isn’t necessarily whether or not you deal with it, but of how you deal with it. Some people take a bad day and make it worse and others use it to improve themselves. The later is the type of person we want you to be.
You should try and observe what types of people are around you. There are many dynamics people have with their friends. Some people are very loving while other relationships are based on making jokes. In this scenario, the way you have a good time is by saying mean (joking) things to one another.
You should know that this is not a healthy relationship to be in. This is because if someone calls you fat, even if they take it back, in the back of your mind you will wonder why they used your weight instead of something else. When you are surrounded by this it will make you really insecure. You should stop this by either telling the person to stop, or distancing yourself from them. You should also write down some of the negative things they say.
There are other types of unhealthy relationships, like when your friend constantly points out a flaw you may have. You should know that everyone has flaws, but the fact that someone keeps reminding you of the fact makes you insecure about it, even up to an unhealthy level. You should write down everything they say to you so that you can remember it for the next step.
The next thing you have to do is address all of the things they have said. How do you feel about them? Do you want to change them? If you can’t change them how will you accept it?
The next thing you should know is that cosmetic procedures may fix the exterior but it’s difficult for them to fix the issues you have with your self esteem. If you get liposuction, you don’t walk out of the room feeling more confident. You may feel it for a while, but then you will feel insecure about something else. Learning to deal with it is a process.
